"Forest Restoration Project-SDGs Together!-" is a project to donate part of the sales of products made by the Indonesian paper manufacturer, APP (including some APP China mill products) to Belantara Foundation to plant seedlings of autochthonous species in Indonesian forests that have been devastated by forest fires and illegal logging. The donation started in August 2020.
Forests nurture precious flora and fauna, as well as absorb carbon dioxide, which is a cause of global warming.
Reforestation is the most effective climate change measure and nature positive initiative. We wish to promote forest restoration as a manufacturer of paper made from the natural blessings of wood with the user of the paper product.
This initiative contributes to achieving SDGs Goal 12 ”Responsible Consumption and Production”, 13 “Climate Action", Goal 15 “Life on Land”, and Goal 17 “Partnerships for the Goals”.
This activity will be carried out within and outside the Giam Siak Kecil-Bukit Batu (GSK-BB) Biosphere Reserve, located in Riau, in Sumatra island, Indonesia.
GSK-BB Biosphere Reserve is a peat area and is designated as a biosphere reserve under the UNESCO Man and Biosphere Project (MAB-Project) because it is a region where rare animals live, such as Sumatra and Sumatra elephants.
This is an activity in degraded forests that have been devastated for various reasons are cleared every year and seedlings of Indonesian native trees are planted to revive primitive forests.
Regular maintenance of planted seedlings is essential until they grow into forests.
